I’ve just added a few anti-spam measures to ‘el blogo to keep things tidy.

Hopefully I didn’t just fubar the whole damn thing!

So… with that in mind, please leave a comment so that I know the damn thing works!

    Yay!! Success!

    I’ve installed two plugins for wordpress, bad behavior and spam-karma 2.

    They are allowing honest comments in, now lets see what they do to spam 🙂

    The numbers and letters are hard to read on yours. I typicaly get them wrong the first time I try to post (I’ve taken to making a copy of my comment before I hit submit in case I have to do it again).

    The two plugins I installed do a few things silently in the background. They look at how thed comment was posted (did they view a post first, then comment, or did they connect directly to the wp-comments-post.php). They also add a few things to the comments page itself, a random variable name with a random value. If that doesn’t match what’s expected on the wp-comments-post.php, it tosses it in the trash.

    Basically, the combo of the two make try to insure that the post was made by a person, not by a script.

    I’ll still get spam (they actually pay people to spam blogs manually when their scripts don’t work… most of the IP’s resolve to Mexico), but those are pretty few and far in between.
