Coke finally released it’s new beverage…. Coca Cola Blãk.

I’m not one to follow the hype, but this actualy sounded interesting since I first heard of it a year or two ago. I’m huge with coffee, and a coffee flavored cola is right up my alley.

My wife picked up a 4 pack of bottles (8oz) for the low, low price of $5.99. Apparently, they’re trying to make this product seem “exclusive” with a high price per fluid ounce (18.71¢ per ounce compared to regular Coke’s 6.25¢ per ounce price).

Pros: it’s nice! Good coffee flavor, not too sweet. It also comes in a glass bottle (instead of plastic).

Cons: The coffee tasts sticks with you. I drank one at dinner, then switched to beer. after 3 beers, I still tasted coffee. It’s not a totally bad thing, but it if you drink this product, be prepared for the ghost of it to linger for the next few hours.

There’s also the price issue. I realize that Coke is trying to make this appear to be a premium beverage, but charging six dollars for 4 small bottles may not fly. Most people will see this as just another flavored cola and won’t pay the premium price. They should just bottle it normally and sell it with the other flavored colas they sell (it would sell much better).

Still… it is tastey. I have 3 more bottles of it in my fridge and I plan on consuming them. After that, I’m not sure if I’ll plunk down the cash for another 4 pack. It’s good, but so is Frappuccino…. and Frappuccino is around $2 less for a 4 pack.
