Tires a go-go

My son’s grilfriend has a car.

She’s a pretty good driver, and she hauls my son all over the place (he doesn’t have his license yet, nor does he have a car of his own).

We had discussed giving her gas money for hauling my son’s lazy ass back and forth to school and such, and then I noticed her tires.

They were bald.

I’m not saying they only had a little tread left… they had no tread. Balder than a very bald thing. The kind of wear that means running over a pine needle could give you a flat tire kind of bald.

So… we decided to buy her tires in lieu of giving her gas money. She, of course, was totally cool with that idea (she has a job, but it’s entry level and she doesn’t have a lot of extra cash).

I called around and looked on the internet, and the best deal I could find was at Wal*Mart (I hate that damn place!). But since they were good name brand tires for less than I could get off brand ones for anyplace else, that was where we decided to go.

Goodyear Viva 2

We decided on the Goodyear Viva 2 all season radials. For her tire size (205/65 R15), they were the best deal, and they came with a 60,000 mile warranty. Not bad for $277 installed (for 4 of them).

We met at the Wal*Mart today to get them installed.

You know your tires are bald when the Wal*Mart guy yells “Holy crap!! Look at how bald these tires are!!!” Anything that shocks the Wal*Mart guy has got to be bad.

It took just over an hour to get the car in, the old tires off, and the new ones on. I did warn her that the car would handle totally different with tread on it, and she seems to be very happy.

Get a move on, little doggies!

My company purchased a new building in Liberty Lake, and the great purge (aka: toss that old shit out) is over, now the pack and go is upon us.

The first wave of people move there on monday. Lucky me… I go on October 2nd (which also happens to be my birthday… buy me something special, plsmktks!). This means we have until then to get the new data center ready, prep our current data center, and then move all the servers from one to the other with minimal downtime.

Fun!

Of course, we’ve been working on the plan to make this happen smoothly for the past 3 months, so we’re totally ready to go. Servers start moving on monday.

Today, I was in the new data center, racking some OMG HOT HOT SEXXY IP based Raritan DKX432’s and some spiffy 19″ 2U rack mount LCD displays with keyboards and real mice.

Tomorrow’s plan… finish packing all the crap in my cube and prepare for the last weekend I’ll have off in quite a while.
