Wii!

It was a good weekend!

On Saturday, we went to watch the Spokane Shock take on the Lubbock Renegades. Once again, it was a sold out crowd of over 10,600 screaming maniacs, and the Shock won the game 63 – 26! We really needed this win, as we lost the last two games. Hopefully this is a taste of things to come.

On Sunday, I set my alarm to get up early. BestBuy (aka: Those Fuckers) advertised that they would have a minimum of 12 Nintendo Wii’s in stock, and my kids really wanted one. We had heard through someone who works there (and will remain nameless) that they actually had 21 units in stock.

I checked the store hours and found out that they opened at 11:00 am, so I got up at 8, drank some coffee, and planned to be there before 10:30 to stand in line. I got there on time and discovered, much to my horror, that they opened an hour early. I ran inside and asked if they still had any but was told “no”.

Fuck!

My mother-in-law called me an hour later. She was at the same BestBuy I went to and they still had two Wii’s in stock (those lying bastards!!). She knew I went out earlier, but called me anyway to see if I had gotten one or not. I barely got the word “no” out of my mouth when she excitedly started yelling “I’LL TAKE IT!! I’LL TAKE IT!!” She picked up an extra controller and a copy of Paper Mario while she was there.

Oh yeah… the kids are happy!

I’m plenty happy with it myself. I like the Wii Sports game that comes with the system (the Bowling game is the bomb!!).  Golf and baseball are also pretty fun.  The tennis and boxing are ok, but not my favorites.

I’ll be having fun with it on my breaks tomorrow (as I’m working from home).  This does, of course, mean no webcam tomorrow, so if you’re one of the 2,500 people who hit it every day, you’re out of luck (why the hell do you want to watch me at work anyway?).

What you say about “Best Buy” is no surprise. Hopefully they will piss off enough people and eventually have to go out of business. I haven’t found anything at Best Buy yet that I couldn’t buy cheaper somewhere else, and not be bothered by their damned “you need to buy and extended warranty” line of bullshit. Didn’t take em long to start operating like a new car dealer did it?

Sadly, getting a Wii online means paying way to damn much at the moment (they’re all selling “bundles” for about $600 – $700). I had to go local for this one.

Most of my BestBuy purchases are for things that I’m not sure I want. I can buy it, try it, and return it if I’m not happy. If I like it and want another one, I’ll buy it off the internet for half the price.

And no… I never buy the extended warranty. I also get cranky because they try to sell me magazines at the checkout counter. If I wanted a magazine, I would have picked one up when I was shopping.
