Nature and news

I was outside at lunch, taking in the glorious day that today is, when I heard something loud from above.

It was a hawk (I believe it was a red tailed hawk), circling above the break area outside. While that in itself isn’t exactly news worthy (I live in the Pacific Northwest… we have wildlife galore!), what happened next is. The hawk in question let out a second cry and suddenly dropped what it had been holding in it’s talons (a killdeer… which tumbled the 80 or so feet to the ground). I then saw what was going on.

3 more hawks were converging on the first.

A drama of aerial combat began to unfold before me. Hawks swooping at each other and each trying to drive the other away. The prize was the killdeer on the ground (which hadn’t moved since it’s release and subsequent plummet to the earth). After about 10 minutes, the original hawk broke away from the fight and the other three drifted toward the west (still going at it).

I had to go inside for a customer call but returned 10 minutes later to see how it all worked out. The dead killdeer was gone and so where all the hawks.

I did try to take a few pictures with my camera phone, but they didn’t turn out.

Other news:

My plans to rule the world with an iron fist are back on again. We’ll see how it goes this time (hopefully with less smoke blown up my butt this time). Of course, I cant discuss it yet… but soon, very soon.

Looking for a new look

Yup… I’m bored of it the old look and am heading straight into the land of “hey… that’s not the same!”

Everything is subject to change (and there will be a rotating banner at some point).

I still need to get the links up and running (I just changed it a few seconds ago… give me time) and have a load of tweaks to do.

EDIT – links and crap are up, so is the webcam. Yay, team me!

Now all I need to do is get inspired for the header (and make it clickable, so you can click on it, you clicky person, you!).

Oh… and before you ask.  Yes… it’s a hot dog, with a barbie head, covered in spagetti-oh’s.

What?

Shock the monkey

We went to see the Spokane Shock play again last night.

This was the last of the playoff games. The winner of this game get to go to the ArenaCup finals on August 26th in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Of course, the Shock dominated the Arkansas Twisters (48-30)

Baldy, my sister, and their kidlet showed up at Casa de Tone early that day. We ate food, had a couple of “beverages”, and painted Baldy’s face again.

After the game, we all went back to my place for celebratory “beverages”. Baldy truely enjoyed his, and ended up face down on the carpet.

I had to test him to verify that he was actually passed out, and performed the following procedure:

pwned!!

Yup… he was out for the count. So, we rolled him onto his stomach, pulled his shirt up, and filled his navel with spray cheese (which my dog took great pleasure out of licking out).

Passed out people will giggle when you do that 🙂

Are the IRC glory days over?

I used to live on IRC.

Seriously… I had a serious IRC issue. Every evening, I’d come home, fire up mIRC, and hit the channels. Stormcenter, Icehouse, Darkstar… those were my haunts. I’d stop for a few moments to eat dinner, then get back to it until I was too tired to continue.

Yeah… I was an addict.

Before I totally geek out… for those who don’t know, IRC stands for Internet Relay Chat. It was a way to connect to a server using a client (mIRC, pIRCh, etc.) and chat with other people.

Apparently, the chat is gone.

I’ve made a few attempts over the past couple of weeks to find a channel where people were talking and discovered something new… no one chats on IRC. Sure, there’s channels by the billions, there’s “people” in thus said channels (it’s hard to tell a person from a bot until they say something), but no one is talking. I hit at least 50 promising channels on efnet… not one real live human being.

I kind of miss the old days. The fun I had with Icey (aka: Eve), Demios, Bagheera, Cricket, Chase, and the rest of the crew… oh… those were good times! (Painting Chase’s ass blue was a massive pass time for me).

I guess it’s time to give it up, uninstall my good friend, mIRC, and say goodbye to it all. That is… unless you know of a good server/channel where people still talk (if so… SHARE, DAMN IT!).

EDIT: Travis (aka: damaged_one) pointed out the horrid typos in this post and then told me that beer and blogs don’t mix.  Well, they do mix… just not well 🙂
